Guessing at the Dead Man Too Late
Opening 16.2.2017 6pm
KASKL is happy to invite you for a short show by Bryden Williams.
Guessing at the Dead Man Too Late is an exhibition of new work from Sydney based artist, Bryden Williams. The work will explore the narrativisation of a series of documents; letters received years ago by Williams’ great grandfather, emails from his aunty and a relic found on Ebay that combined pertain to the fate of Williams’ great uncle who perished during the events of World War II. These narrative elements have become a new video work, sound piece and a sculptural accompaniment that will be installed in the darkened space of Kaskl Gallery in Lichtenberg, Berlin.
Bryden Williams’ practice uses sculpture, installation and the recorded image to address the human influence on the natural landscape. Based in the Blue Mountains, Australia, Williams is currently completing his Masters of Fine Art at Sydney College of the Arts. He is a recipient of the Fauvette Memorial Travelling Artists Scholarship and the Australian Postgraduate Award whilst in 2016-17 he is undertaking Winter Exchange at Universität der Künste, Berlin, under Prof. Manfred Pernice.
